ManaBluff crack-a-pack #1

ManaBluff’s first crack-a-pack!  Yes, we’re learning.  🙂

The first time I played magic

The first time that I played magic was with two of my cousins camping. We played with pre-constructe decks. Urza’s Destiny was the new set. I played with “Fiendish Nature” a green black deck that focused on large green creatures with regeneration and a splach black removal and return to play. Playing a three way match for my first time has influenced how I look at magic.

As the game played out I was in what I thought was the lead. I had the most life but the board the stalled. One of my cousins convinced me to stop my other cousins advances. We stalled out the game for quite a few turns until the first cousin drew a fireball and killed us both in one turn.

So what did I learn? Magic is a fun game. I love big creatures. When you play multiplayer it is also about politics.

RTR Draft #1 – ManaBluff Team Draft

Here is the very first ManaBluff draft video, and not only is it a ManaBluff exclusive, it is a team draft. Both Ortega and myself compete in this RTR 8-4. Although this was technically not the first draft we have recorded, this is the first draft we were able to upload due to some technical difficulties. Ortega and I make some comments that refer to the previous draft, but if you are here watching it I am fairly certain that you will be able to pick up on the context fairly quickly.

We encourage comments on not only the game play, but the video and recording of itself. Despite us being the ones recording and producing the content, having others to comment and make suggestions will not only improve our gameplay but the quality of the videos as a whole.

Here we go.

The Beginning of Something Great, and Some “Get to Know Us” Stuff

I struggled to think of a good way to start our introductory post, so I decided what better way than to get right into it. ManaBluff is three guys that, a little over a year ago happened to go to the same Friday Night Magic event. I don’t want to say it, but I will … And the rest is history.

The concept is old, but its actualization is new. ManaBluff is composed of Ryan, Chris, and Mike. The three of us are making our way into the competitive Magic scene, not only developing our strengths as individual players, but also solidifying a kickass trio.

From our humble beginnings in the (strictly) Limited environment, mostly drafts, we have branched out and have begun competitive constructed play. This site, although primarily intended to broaden our reach into the world that is Magic the Gathering, is also meant to help other Magic enthusiasts in their card slingin’. In the future, expect set reviews, draft videos, some theory crafting, and possibly some fun on the side.

On behalf of Team ManaBluff,

Be Ready.

Mike
